FLOOD RELIEF

PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF

Over 900 killed by Pakistan monsoon rains and floods, including 326 children
The heaviest rains have hit the southern provinces of Sindh and Balochistan, as well as the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Hundreds of villages have been inundated, and many people are stranded on rooftops or high ground. Rescue workers are struggling to reach all the areas affected by the floods. Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed, and crops and livestock have been swept away. The floods have caused widespread damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and power lines.

Heavy monsoon rains and floods have affected 2.3 million people in Pakistan since mid-June, according to the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

At least 95,350 homes have been destroyed, according to the humanitarian agency. The southeastern province of Sindh and the southwestern province of Balochistan are the two most “affected provinces in terms of human and infrastructural impact.” OCHA
