PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF

One-Third of Pakistan Under Water – Millions in Desperate Need

In 2022, Pakistan faced one of the worst climate disasters in its history. Unprecedented monsoon rains and glacial melt caused massive floods from June to October, devastating communities nationwide. The disaster claimed 1,739 lives and injured over 12,800 people. Nearly 33 million people were affected, with 8 million displaced from their homes. Entire villages were submerged, and over 2.2 million homes, 13,000 km of roads, and 410 bridges were destroyed.

The floods also crippled essential services—34,000 schools and 1,460 health facilities were damaged—leaving millions without education or healthcare. Food shortages, unsafe water, and disease outbreaks worsened the crisis, hitting children and vulnerable families hardest.

The economic toll exceeded $30 billion, and millions still need urgent assistance to rebuild their lives. The Truman Foundation is committed to helping flood-affected families through relief aid, reconstruction, and long-term recovery efforts. Together, we can restore hope and resilience.
